Defense Tech: MiG-35, Russia’s New 4th-Gen Light Fighter, Readies for Combat

SALON DU BOURGET, France — The next addition to Russia’s roster of fighter jets that bridge fourth- and fifth-generation technology may join units as soon as 2019, officials with the MiG Corporation told Military.com here at the Paris Air Show.

It goes like this:

If you want to win a war for sure, you buy American planes.
If you need to save money and don't care about supply chain and maintenance issues, and face a relatively weak enemy, you go Russian.

Been like this for decades.

Problem for Russia will be competitors are creeping in at this upper mid-class segment. Once the military sector is under pressure, and oil and gas plummets again, it's bye bye Great Russian dreams that Putin has. He doesn't understand economics, how to diversify in the modern economy. Capitalism has never been the strong foot of Russia. But now capitalism will more and more influence their 2nd / 3rd place in arms dealing. Think India, China sweeping in.
